Protection enclosure ranges from IP23, to IP55 (totally sealed) combined with the required cooling arrangements such as naturally air or forced air cooling systems or air/water heat exchangers.
All this can be optimised to suit the specified vessel system in terms of power ratings, available installation space and environmental protection.
The transformers which we can provide are Dry type and Oil type and those can be classified as following:
1.) Drive Transformers
These are converter transformer for electric motor driven ships used in the New Age propulsion systems. Apart from the use of copper conductive, special materials are also used against corrosion under sea conditions. In addition vibration effects are important in design. The conditions of the medium and sizing should be stated by the customer. STS (Sonmez Transformer) is able to produce converter transformers for 6-12-18-24-36-48 pulse applications. 2.) Internal need transformers
These are transformers for the the power supply unit meeting the internal need of the ships. Copper conductive and special materials against harsh sea conditions are used. In addition vibration effects are important in design. The conditions of the medium and sizing should be stated by the customer. Besides it is considered suitable that it comes with a spare coil.
